Series of blunders turned the plastic bag into global villain

I highlight this because news like this can make people give up and look at those of us in the green movement with suspicion. While plastic bags might not be as big of a danger to marine life as previously claimed, they’re still garbage, and they aren’t biodegradable. It’s still a much better […]

Is a New Solar Cycle Beginning?

How will this affect the grid?
NASA - Is a New Solar Cycle Beginning?

Many forecasters believe Solar Cycle 24 will be big and intense. Peaking in 2011 or 2012, the cycle to come could have significant impacts on telecommunications, air traffic, power grids and GPS systems. (And don’t forget the Northern Lights!) In this age of […]

Fleethorse

A vehicle with exactly one horse power. I’m not sure that this is that beneficial to the horse. On the other hand, in some areas, horses are cheaper and more available than gas/oil/biodiesel/etc.

Radioactive laptops? Perhaps not…

Apparently the radioactive laptop is too good to be true…
Radioactive laptops? Perhaps not… >> Mixed Signals >> Rupert Goodwins’s Blog at ZDNet UK Community

The story is written in peculiarly convoluted prose, but appears to be saying that a breakthrough in nuclear energy technology means that we’ll all be running around with magic batteries in mobile […]
