algae/bacteria will live in diesel fuel and biodiesel, it’s growth tends to accelerate with adding biodiesel to a tank (I guess they find it delicious!) there are many anti-microbial diesel fuel additives that can be added to the tank, after a few treatments the filters/screens probably need to be cleaned
