German draft law foresees 10 cent biodiesel tax
You know, we need all the incentives we can get to encourage greener fuels. Taxing it isn’t going to help. I hope that Germany isn’t going to start a trend.
Of course it’s going to be uneconomical. It’s already more expensive to produce than regular diesel in Germany. It’s times like this when you have to ask yourself exactly how you feel about government. They’re complaining that they lost revenue from regular diesel because people bought biodiesel. This saved some environmental cleanup, which I assume is being provided by a government program. Instead of celebrating that they saved some money on cleanup, they’re out to punish those who use biodiesel.
From what I understand, Germany has some of the worst air pollution in Europe. Why don’t they drop all taxes on biodiesel to help lessen the pollution?

The German government is planning a tax of 10 euro cents ($0.12) per liter on biodiesel fuel and a 15 cent tax per liter on biodiesel used for blending with conventional fuels, according to a copy of a draft law obtained by Reuters.
The proposed tax would be over and above a value added tax on biodiesel — already more expensive to produce than conventional fuel — and could make the green alternative fuel uneconomical, its supporters say.

Because a majority of the people on this planet have not been informed as to what greener technologies can for them, they think that they will have to give up something to save the planet and they are selfish.
